  Snatch

In the movie Snatch, written and directed by Guy Ritchie, “an unscrupulous boxing promoters, violent bookmakers, a Russian gangster, two incompetent amateur robbers, and supposed Jewish jewelers fight to track down a priceless stolen diamond” (Filmtwob). The main cast is composed by Jason Statham, Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro.

Snatch is a movie written for a specific type of audience, because it had too many things going on at once. The producers tried to make it funny, but they seemed to try too hard, thus leading to over use of clichés in a movie that people were probably expecting action.  Brad Pitt appears in the movie as Mickey an Irish traveler that loses his mother and then gets revenge at the boxing ring. That was one of the two plots. The other plot was about a circle of people in search of a diamond which is the main plot in the story, but the two are poorly mixed together making it easy to get lost. Also the pronunciation is hard to understand, because the actors were not speaking with their natural accent, this is mostly heard in the case of Brad Pitt.

This movie was very hard to understand, it had two plots and the actors had a forced accent. It is hard to keep up with the search for the diamond and the boxing match at the same time. Just because the movie was interpreted by good Hollywood actors it does not make it a good movie by default.

The Devil's Dictionary VS The Modern Dictionary

Many centuries ago people used to believe that a bath was "A kind of mystic ceremony substituted for religious worship". (Bierce's, The Devils Dictionary). Some might agree with:

The man who taketh  a steam bath,

He loseth all the skin he hath,

And for he's boliled and brilliant red,

Thinketh to cleanliness he's wed,

Forgeting that his lungs he's soiling,

With dirty vapors of the boiling" (Gwow).

Now a days people have a different point of view. It would appear awkward that for someone to say that they cannot take a bath because it is a "mystic ceremony". Therefore people now believe that a bath is and should be:

      The act of soaking or cleansing the body as in water or steam.  The water used for cleansing the body. A bathtub. A bathroom. A building equipped for bathing (Soukhanov 156) The American Heritage Dictionary of the English language.

Named after an impostor

Hello, its my pleasure to present to you Carlos J. Montes, he’s a very interesting young man and funny as well. I interviewed him for an assignment of my english class, on August 15, 2011. This young man is 18 years old and is from  Mayagüez. He was named after an impostor (his father), when his parents were in high school his dad wanted to get to know Carlos’s mom so he changed his name to Carlos, but later obviously she found out. Carlos Jose doesn't speak the english language very often,  “When I travel to the United States I have no choice,” he said. He likes to listen to rock music his favorite band is Escape the Fate. “My favorite color is blue, because it symbolizes freedom,” he said ,“And if I were to be a crayon that would be the color I would choose with no doubt”. He doesn’t have a favorite sport, though he likes to play with his longboard. Carlos is not the kind to get sacred easily but he doesn’t like scary movies, he prefers happy endings. “I don’t get scared often, but once when I went to the U. S. I went to Madantuche in in N.Y. and got the scare of a lifetime,” he exclaimed,"When this dude came out of a locker with blood all over!” The last movie he saw was Cowboys VS Aliens because his girlfriend wanted to watch it with him on that special date.  Carlos hasn't read any books lately, but his favorite book is Eragon. Most guys didn’t like the last transformers movie, because Megan Fox wasn't in it. “I thought it sucked, because they changed the original character”. If I were to kiss an actress it would be Jessica Alba, because she’s pretty, unlike Megan Fox is on another level.
